What We Believe
The doctrinal convictions that anchor our faith and guide our ministry
The Historic Christian Faith
As a Baptist church, we hold to the historic doctrines of the Christian faith as revealed in Scripture. Below is a summary of our core beliefs.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments were verbally inspired by God and are without error in the original manuscripts.
God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, co-equal and co-eternal, yet there is one God. God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Ruler of all things.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died a substitutionary and atoning death on the cross, rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and will return in power and glory.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father and God the Son. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, indwells them at the moment of salvation, and empowers them for Christian living and service. He illuminates Scripture and produces the fruit of Christlike character in those who yield to Him.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God offered to all people by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is not a result of human effort or good works. All who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are forgiven of their sins, declared righteous before God, and granted eternal life. We believe in the eternal security of the believer.
The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ, composed of all born-again believers from every nation and age. The local church is an autonomous congregation of baptized believers who gather for worship, instruction, fellowship, and service. Each local church is governed by its members under the headship of Christ and the leadership of pastors and deacons.
Baptism & The Lord's Supper
We believe there are two ordinances given to the church by Christ: baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism by immersion is an act of obedience that publicly identifies the believer with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord's Supper is a memorial of Christ's sacrificial death, to be observed regularly by the church until He returns.
The Last Things
We believe in the personal, visible, and bodily return of Jesus Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead — believers to everlasting life and blessedness in heaven, and unbelievers to everlasting conscious punishment in hell. We look forward with hope to the new heaven and new earth where righteousness dwells.
